About Me

Hello! I'm Lanie, a 32-year-old Christian woman passionate about technology, accessibility, and gaming. I am totally blind, autistic, and chronically ill, and I live in Pipe Creek, TX, with my mom and stepdad who are my caregivers.

My Journey

I'm currently studying programming on freeCodeCamp.org and Codecademy, as well as Braille proofreading through the National Federation of the Blind. My goal is to develop accessible apps that empower people with disabilities like myself.

Interests

• Gaming: I enjoy incremental games, word games, puzzles, RPGs, roguelikes, deck-builders, and MUDs.
• Tech: I'm an aspiring accessibility consultant and usability tester.
• Programming: Learning through interactive platforms to create accessible applications.
• Reading: I love sci-fi, fantasy, thrillers, mysteries, and nonfiction.
• Gardening: I'm starting a greenhouse garden focused on fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

Advocacy

I am passionate about disability rights and aim to create a nonprofit organization that connects individuals with multiple disabilities. My vision includes providing support for education, employment, and access to assistive technology, as well as bridging the gaps between existing organizations focused on one disability and helping people with multiple disabilities connect with each other..

Fun Facts

• I have a 10-year-old male Miniature Pinscher named Squeaker who keeps me company!
• I enjoy food, especially chocolate, seafood, milk, cheese, and exploring new recipes.
• I'm active on social media, primarily on Mastodon.
